Legal Assistant I
The Legal Assistant I assists lawyers and administration in all aspects of immigration law practice. They assist with case preparation including data entry, requesting information and documents from clients, draft support letters, index of exhibits, request checks, confirm filing fees and correct filing addresses, log in all applicable logs, track and monitor petitions and applications, prepare and mail approval packets. Administrative duties include taking and screening calls, scheduling consultations, copying, compiling packets, preparing contracts, taking payments, making receipts, opening files, and pulling files. The Legal Assistant I is responsible for maintaining a caseload of 20-25 active cases
Legal Assistant II
The Legal Assistant II assists lawyers in all aspects of immigration law practice. They assist with case preparation including data entry, requesting information and documents from clients, draft support letters, index of exhibits, request checks, confirm filing fees and correct filing addresses, log in all applicable logs, track and monitor petitions and applications, prepare and mail approval packets. Depending on level of training and experience, they assist with case preparation including researching immigration law, general business and country conditions, drafting affidavits, memorandums and of law and legal briefs, maintaining primary contact with clients and primary control over working files. Primary responsibility for filing deadlines. The Legal Assistant II is responsible for maintaining a Caseload of 25-40 active cases.
Paralegal I
The Paralegal I assists lawyers in all aspects of immigration law practice including all duties noted for Legal Assistant II. They are responsible for researching immigration law, keep up to date with changes in immigration law via immigration websites, newsletters and CIS updates. They must investigates factual details of petitions and applications, researches and analyze law sources such as the INA, 8 CFR and 22 CFR, FAM, applicable DOL statutes, BIA and AAO decisions, legal articles, and treaties to prepare legal documents, such as affidavits, briefs, pleadings, appeals, initial and amended articles of incorporation, stock certificates and other securities, buy-sell agreements and stock purchase agreements for review and approval by attorney. The Paralegal I may act as department head, distributing CIS, DOL and SESA notices to assigned LA or PL, can act as law librarian, keeping and monitoring legal volumes and ensuring legal volumes are up-to-date. They will prepare petitions and applications to 80% completion with consistency in preparation and will maintain caseload of 35-50 cases depending on other responsibilities.
Paralegal II
The Paralegal II assists lawyers in all aspects of immigration law practice including all duties noted for Paralegal I. They will assist with client consultations, prepare petitions and applications to 90% completion with consistency in preparation. Maintain caseload of 40-60 cases depending on other responsibilities.
Senior Paralegal
The Senior Paralegal assists lawyers in all aspects of immigration law practice including all duties noted for Paralegal II. They are responsible for assisting with client consultations and may engage in consultations without attorney present. The senior paralegal will prepare petitions and applications to 100% completion with consistency in preparation and maintain a caseload of 50-75 cases depending on other responsibilities.
Case Manager
The Case Manager is the primary contact all inquiries have with the law firm. The Case Manager is responsible for scheduling appointments for all inquires as well as various administrative tasks. They will contact both phone and web inquiries to set up consultations with an attorney.
